A New Year

 To My Family and Friends

Looking back on the months gone by,
As a new year starts and an old one ends,
I contemplate what brought me joy,
And I think of my family and friends.

Recalling all the happy times,
Remembering how they enriched my life,
I reflect upon who really counts,
As the fresh and bright new year arrives.

And when I ponder those who do,
I immediately think of you.

Thanks for being one of the reasons I'll have a Happy New Year!

Tomato soup and grilled cheese

I never thought i would be so happy to see someone clap over tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich! Battling for months with a two year old to eat something even semi-healthy has been an extremely hard expedition in our house. If is is not brown (chocolate flavored) we usually get a head throwing no and end up with him throwing the food on the floor. Because of the lack of weight gain struggle we have had with him we always give in and let him eat what he will eat, anything to put some pounds on him, and in turn it has come back to bite us in the rear because now he knows what the "good food is." We have always been able to get him to have of few bites of something with nutritional value in it, but normally the only way to get him to eat a vegetable is to give him a pumpkin cookie. I feel like we had a huge break-through today when I offered him some tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich and not only was he eating it he has a smile on his face and was clapping by the end of the meal.

Why More?

It is funny to me that everywhere I go...with my toddler in tow, people ask the question "So when are you going to have another?" Seriously people cant you see I have my hands full enough? lol Of course I always say the same thing that I have been saying for the past 2 years "I'm not planing on having any more kids." and then here it comes "Every child needs a sibling to share their life with!" or "You cant have just one they will be spoiled!" I have come across something quite amusing in the last two years, if you ask the person how their relationship with their sibling has tuned out you hear a lot of "O we don't get along that well anymore." or "They live so far away we hardly ever see each other." I have to admit I have great siblings that I couldn't imagine life without, but I am not sure how my mother made it threw our childhood. The thought of packing 3 kids everywhere I went makes me want to cry! I can barley pull it together to get me and one other ready and out the door. I have talked to adult "only children" and have yet to meet one that felt lonely or spoiled. Some of the most obedient and well behaved kids that I have been around are only children. Whats right for me isn't right for the universe. Just because common law (especially in Utah) states that you have to have at least 2 kids, that just doesn't sound like my cup of tea! I feel content and satisfied with my life and and my choice for only one and I feel its right for me.Perfection was achieved the first try!

 

Busy Mom

If mom wants a muffin, She will want a cup of coffee to go with it. So she'll pour herself some and her two-year-old will spill the coffee, so she will wipe it up. While she is wiping the floor, she'll find dirty socks and she will remember she has to do laundry. When she puts the laundry in the washer, she will trip over boots and bump into the freezer. Bumping into the freezer will remind her that she has to plan for dinner. She will get out a pound of hamburger and cookbook ("101 Things To Do With a Pound of Hamburger"). The cookbook is setting next to the mail. She will see the phone bill, which is due tomorrow. She will look for her checkbook. The check book is in her purse that is being dumped out by her two-year-old. She'll smell something funny... Its the two year old. She'll change the two-year-old's diaper. While she is changing the diaper, the phone will ring, but she will miss the call, she will remember she wants to call her sister to come over for coffee. Thinking of coffee will remind her that she was going to have a cup, but it was spilled and chances are... If she gets another a cup of coffee, her two-year old will have eaten the muffin that went with it anyway.
